(See also the paper on Members Responsibilities and Handicaps)

All of the Seniors Competitions are the formal responsibility of the Seniors Committee.   The Seniors Competition Secretary has day to day responsibility for the competition programme and implementing the Seniors Committee’s decisions about the conditions under which the competitions are to be played.   The Seniors Committee will take full account of R&A Rules and Guidance and CONGU Rules and Guidance relevant to running competitions.

Any decisions made about the competition whilst it is in progress or rulings made about individual players will be made by the Seniors Competition Secretary (or nominee) and will stand – allowing the competition to be closed and results published.   Members feeling that the wrong decision has been made may appeal to the Seniors Committee for a ruling but this will not effect the published result.

Although there are distinctions between competitions that are designated as “Qualifying Competitions” and those that are not, as far as possible we follow the terms as they apply to Qualifying Competitions.   This ensures clarity, consistency and good standards.

Members can take part in Senior Competitions before they have a Competition Handicap for the purpose of obtaining a handicap, however they cannot receive any prize money, medals or trophies until they have a Competition Handicap (usually after returning three cards from qualifying competitions).
